Terms & conditions.
The agreement between you and Ucademy when you use our platform. Please read carefully before using our services.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) are between Ucademy FZCO (“Ucademy”, “we”, “us”), whose registered address is Office 001-35678, IFZA Business Park, DDP, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and you. They govern your use of our website, apps and services. By accessing or using Ucademy, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you enrol on a course, you (or your parent/guardian) will also sign an Enrolment Agreement recording your programme, tier, subjects and fees; where these Terms and a signed Enrolment Agreement differ, the signed Enrolment Agreement takes precedence for that enrolment.
1. Governing Law & Your Consumer Rights
1.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and the DIFC Courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
1.2 Your local consumer rights. We provide courses to students in many countries. Where the student ordinarily resides outside the DIFC, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence that cannot be excluded by agreement. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits those rights, or any other non-excludable statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence.
1.3 Acceptance. By accessing the Ucademy website or app you agree to be bound by these Terms and all applicable laws. The materials on the site are protected by copyright and trade-mark law. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the site.
2. Refunds & Guarantees
Ucademy is committed to quality online courses that help students achieve their goals. This section sets out (a) your statutory cancellation right, which applies to everyone, and (b) additional goodwill guarantees we choose to offer on top of that right.
The tiers and programmes described in this section cover our full range. The specific tier that applies to you is the one recorded at enrolment; conditions written for other tiers will not apply to you unless you move to one of them.
2.1 Your 14-day cancellation right (applies to all enrolments)
You may cancel within 14 days of enrolment, for any reason, and receive a refund of fees paid. If you ask us to begin providing the course during this 14-day period, you agree that we may do so; if you then cancel, we may retain a proportionate amount for the part of the service actually provided up to cancellation. Once the course has been fully provided within the 14-day period at your request, this cancellation right ends. This right applies regardless of when in the year you enrol. Some enrolment agreements record a longer cancellation period; where they do, the longer period applies to that enrolment.
Two separate timelines — do not confuse them. The cancellation right above runs from the date of enrolment and lasts only for the stated period. The grade guarantee below operates on an entirely separate and much later timeline — it is assessed after the student has sat the relevant official examination and results have been released, which may be up to a year or more after enrolment. The two are independent: missing or using the cancellation window has no effect on your eligibility for the grade guarantee, and the grade-guarantee timeline does not extend, revive or shorten the cancellation right.
2.2 Goodwill guarantees (additional to your cancellation right)
In addition to your statutory right above, we offer the following discretionary guarantees. These are goodwill offers and do not replace or reduce your rights under section 2.1.
Grade guarantee (Premium and Premium Pro tiers). If the student is enrolled on the Premium or Premium Pro tier, completes the full course, sits the relevant official examination, and does not achieve the qualifying result for their programme set out in section 2.4, you may claim a refund of fees for that subject, subject to the conditions in section 2.4.
For any goodwill guarantee or refund claim based on course completion, engagement, work completed or examination performance, the relevant work and evidence must be available to Ucademy in an auditable form before the relevant examination date, including by being uploaded to our platform where requested. You cannot rely on work that was not made available to us to verify before the exam.
Homeschooling grade guarantee. A grade guarantee is also offered on the Homeschooling Programme across all pace tiers: Fast, Intermediate and Foundation. Eligibility for it, and the engagement, evidence, exam-window and qualifying-result conditions that apply, are set out in section 2.4, which governs the grade guarantee for every programme or tier to which it applies.
Downgrade to a lower tier. Instead of cancelling, you may ask to move the student to a lower tier at any time. Where we agree a downgrade, your fees, the level of support and any applicable guarantee will be adjusted to those of the lower tier from the point of change. A guarantee that applies only to a higher tier (for example the Premium or Premium Pro grade guarantee) will no longer apply once the student moves below that tier, and the support and guarantee appropriate to the new tier apply instead.
Upgrade to a higher tier. You may also ask to move the student to a higher tier at any time. Where we agree an upgrade, the support and any guarantee for the higher tier apply only from the point of change and only to the fees paid at the higher tier. Fees already paid at a lower tier that does not carry a grade guarantee (for example the Core tier) do not become guarantee-eligible by upgrading, and any guarantee remains subject to the engagement, evidence and exam-window conditions in section 2.4 being met for the relevant subject.
Hardship release. If your circumstances change and you are struggling to continue, contact us. We would always rather release you from future payments than cause hardship — see sections 3.4 and 3.7.
2.3 30-Day Challenge
For the 30-Day Challenge, refunds within the month are available only where all work set has been fully completed.
2.4 Eligibility and conditions for the grade guarantee
The grade guarantee in section 2.2 applies only to enrolments where the recorded tier is Premium or Premium Pro, and to Homeschooling enrolments at any recorded pace tier: Fast, Intermediate or Foundation. It does not apply to the Lite, Core or Platinum tiers, or to the KS2 or UCAT programmes, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. The guarantee is a goodwill offer, conditional on the student having genuinely engaged with the course, and the conditions in this section govern eligibility for every programme or tier to which it applies.
Lite tier — two-week trial only. The grade guarantee does not apply to the Lite tier. For Lite enrolments, the 14-day cancellation right in section 2.1 operates as a two-week trial: you may cancel within it and receive a refund as set out in section 2.1. Once that period ends, no further refunds are offered on Lite fees and no goodwill guarantee applies. If you pay monthly you may still stop future instalments at any time under section 3.7. Nothing in this paragraph affects your non-excludable statutory rights (section 1.2) or your rights under section 2.1.
To qualify, the student must have: completed all assigned papers, assessments and consultant recommendations; uploaded or otherwise submitted that work and supporting evidence to the Ucademy platform in an auditable form before the relevant examination date; sat the relevant official examination for the subject within the exam window recorded at enrolment; and submitted official proof of the result (from the exam board or test provider) within 14 days of results being released.
Qualifying result. The guarantee applies where the student does not achieve the following result in a subject in which that result is attainable: A-Level: a grade of A or A*. GCSE / IGCSE (9–1 scale): a grade of 7, 8 or 9 (i.e. grade 7 or above). GCSE / IGCSE (A*–G scale): a grade of A or A*. 11+ (selective entrance): an age-standardised score at or above the threshold recorded for the official GL Assessment or CEM test sat by the student.
The 11+ guarantee relates to the student's test score only. It does not guarantee an offer of a place at any particular school, as admission depends on each school's own published criteria — including age, catchment or designated area, the number of places available, and the performance of other candidates — which are outside Ucademy's control. It is the parent's responsibility to confirm the student's eligibility for a chosen school before enrolment.
Where a subject or examination uses a grading scale not listed above, the equivalent top grade applies, determined by reference to the exam board's published equivalence.
The grade guarantee does not apply where information provided at enrolment was inaccurate in a way material to eligibility (for example, exam board, test provider, tier or year group). It does not apply where the premium 1-2-1 tutoring element has been substantially used, since tutor time is paid out as it is delivered; where part has been used, we will calculate a fair proportionate position. This section concerns the goodwill grade guarantee only and does not affect your statutory rights under section 2.1.
If you are unhappy with the course at any point, please tell us promptly so we can address your concerns. We will always treat genuine hardship — such as bereavement, serious illness or a major accident — with compassion.
3. Fees & Payment
3.1 Agreed fees. The fees payable are those recorded at enrolment, based on the programme, tier, subjects and exam windows selected.
3.2 Course price and prompt-payment discount. The course price is the figure recorded as the course fee at enrolment. If you pay the course fee in full at enrolment, you receive the prompt-payment discount shown, and the discounted figure is the total you pay. If you choose the monthly plan, the prompt-payment discount does not apply and the total payable is the full course fee, divided into the equal monthly instalments shown. The course price, the discount and both totals are stated transparently at enrolment so you can compare them before choosing.
3.2a Refunds of an upfront payment. Where you have paid in full upfront and a refund of fees becomes due (for example, on cancellation outside the period in section 2.1, or under a guarantee or goodwill release), any proportionate amount we retain for the part of the course already provided is calculated using the standard monthly rate — that is, the full (undiscounted) course fee divided into the monthly instalments shown — and not the discounted upfront figure you paid. In other words, the prompt-payment discount is a benefit of paying in full and is not refunded on the portion of the course already provided; the part of the course not yet provided is refunded. This does not affect your statutory cancellation rights under section 2.1, which always take precedence where they apply.
3.3 Monthly instalments.Where you select the monthly plan, you agree to pay the instalments shown on the dates recorded at enrolment. For homeschooling enrolments, instalments are calculated per subject by reference to each subject's own start date and exam window, then combined into a single monthly payment.
3.4 Changes to your circumstances & release. We want every student to succeed, and we understand that circumstances change. If you need to pause, reduce or stop payments, contact our team. We will discuss your options with you, and we would always rather release you from future instalments than cause you hardship. We do not report missed or cancelled payments to credit-reference agencies. Access to paid course content may be suspended where payments stop.
3.5 Enrolment window. Enrolment for any examination window requires a minimum of five (5) months between the enrolment date and the relevant examinations. Pricing updates dynamically as examination dates approach; the fees recorded reflect the position at the date of enrolment. KS2 programmes are fixed-price.
3.6 Platinum (1-2-1) Programme. The Platinum tier comprises an annual upfront fee covering administration, resources and review meetings, plus pay-as-you-go 1-2-1 sessions charged at the hourly rate recorded at enrolment.
3.7 Cancelling a monthly plan. If you are on a monthly payment plan and wish to stop, simply let the team know — either through your WhatsApp group or by emailing [email protected]. There is no minimum term: you can give notice at any time before your next payment is due, and we will stop taking further monthly instalments from the next payment date after we receive your notice. As set out in section 3.4, we would always rather release you from future instalments than cause you hardship, and we do not report missed or cancelled payments to credit-reference agencies. Access to paid course content may be suspended once payments stop. This is separate from, and additional to, your 14-day statutory cancellation right in section 2.1.
3.8 What is included by tier. What each tier includes is set out at enrolment and in our published tier descriptions. In particular, the Lite tier does not include the marking of, or written feedback on, submitted papers — this includes English Language papers, Psychology papers and other written work. Where marking is not included in your tier, our tutors will not assess or return marks for submitted papers; if you need marking, please choose a tier that includes it before enrolling, or ask us about your options.
4. Use Licence & Accounts
All materials are copyright Ucademy and are licensed to the student for personal, non-commercial use only in studying for their exams. If you are a teacher, tutor, organisation or charity, you must tell us at enrolment. This is a licence, not a transfer of title. Under it you may not: modify or copy the materials; use them for any commercial purpose or public display; decompile or reverse-engineer any content; remove copyright notices; or transfer or “mirror” the materials elsewhere.
Login details and accounts must not be shared. The site records IP addresses and alerts us to unusual sign-in activity. We may suspend or terminate access where credentials are shared or these restrictions are breached, in addition to any other rights, and may revoke any offline or downloaded access. On termination you must destroy any downloaded materials in your possession.
5. Our Service & Liability
5.1 Reasonable care and skill. We will provide the course with reasonable care and skill. We keep our materials accurate and up to date with current curricula, but in rare cases they may contain technical, typographical or factual errors; we may correct or amend material without prior notice. If you believe there is a significant omission or error, please tell us so we can address it.
5.2 No outcome guarantee.Except where the specific grade guarantee in section 2.2 applies, we do not guarantee any particular examination grade or outcome. A student's results depend on their own engagement and effort.
5.3 Liability. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Subject to the above, our total liability to you under these Terms is limited to the total fees you have paid to us.
5.4 Linked sites. We are not responsible for the content of third-party sites linked from ours; their inclusion does not imply endorsement, and use of them is at your own risk.
6. Lessons, Scheduling & Conduct
6.1 Lesson schedule. Lesson schedules are fixed at enrolment. There are two exceptions: (a) Platinum tier students may request schedule changes, subject to tutor availability; and (b) where a class has low enrolment, we may propose alternative scheduling. Any agreed change to the schedule may be confirmed via email, WhatsApp, phone call, or in writing.
6.2 Cancelled classes and makeup sessions. Where a scheduled class is cancelled due to Ucademy-related closures (including but not limited to Eid and the Easter holidays), unforeseen circumstances, or tutor unavailability, we will offer a makeup session within a reasonable timeframe. During Ramadan, we may reschedule classes to alternative times to accommodate student and tutor availability; if a Ramadan reschedule creates genuine hardship, please contact us to discuss. Where a makeup session cannot reasonably be arranged, you may request a credit against future fees.
6.3 Cover tutors. We reserve the right to provide a cover tutor if your assigned tutor is unavailable due to illness, emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances. Cover tutors are qualified to teach the student's subject(s) and meet the same standards as our regular tutors.
6.4 Respectful conduct.Students must use Ucademy's platform and services respectfully. This includes treating tutors, coaches, and other students with courtesy and professionalism. Conduct that constitutes bullying, harassment, abuse, or discrimination — whether directed at tutors, other students, or staff — is prohibited.
6.5 Consequences of misconduct. We may suspend or terminate access to the platform and course materials where conduct violates these standards or materially disrupts the learning environment for other students. Serious breaches may result in termination without refund of future fees. Tutors may decline to continue teaching a student where conduct is disruptive or disrespectful. This section does not affect your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer (see section 1.2).
7. Comments on our Platforms
When posting comments, please read the other questions first — your question might have already been answered. Ucademy endeavours to respond to all relevant comments as soon as possible, subject to demand.
8. Privacy & Complaints
8.1 Personal data. We process your personal data — including educational and contact information — in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Because students may be children, we handle their information with additional care and obtain parental consent where required. Please read the Privacy Policy, as it explains how we collect, use, store and share personal data and the rights you have.
8.2 Complaints. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the course or these Terms, please tell us promptly so we can address your concerns. You can raise a complaint at any time by emailing [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge complaints quickly and to work with you towards a fair resolution.
9. Photos & Video
We sometimes capture photos or video for promotional use — for example, results-day features or competitions. Because this often involves children, any such use is covered by a separate, optional Media Consent Form, which you may give or withhold without affecting any enrolment, and which you may withdraw. We will not use a student's image for promotion without that separate consent. No media consent is given by accepting these Terms.
Lesson recordings. Online lessons, classes, tutoring sessions and review meetings may be recorded for safeguarding, quality assurance, attendance, training, resolving concerns and making lesson content available to relevant students. Recordings are controlled course materials and must not be shared outside Ucademy or the relevant student, parent or class group. If a recording captures something private or sensitive by accident, please tell us promptly through your WhatsApp group or by emailing [email protected]. We will review reasonable requests to restrict access to, edit, remove or withhold the relevant recording or portion of a recording where appropriate, especially where a child's privacy, safety or dignity is affected. This lesson-recording provision does not authorise promotional use; promotional photos or videos still require separate Media Consent.
10. Events Beyond Our Control (Force Majeure)
10.1 What this covers. We are not responsible for any delay in, or failure to perform, our obligations under these Terms that is caused by an event beyond our reasonable control (a “force majeure event”). This includes, but is not limited to: failures of the internet, telecommunications networks, hosting or third-party platforms, or other technical infrastructure we rely on but do not control; power or utility failures; epidemics or pandemics and any related public-health measures or restrictions; acts of government, regulators or public authorities, changes in law, or the withdrawal of any licence or permission; war, terrorism, civil unrest, or national emergency; fire, flood, severe weather, earthquake or other natural disaster; and strikes or other industrial action not involving our own workforce. Because we operate across the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, this section applies to qualifying events arising in either country, or anywhere else, that affect our ability to deliver the course.
10.2 What happens. While a force majeure event continues, our affected obligations are suspended and the time for performing them is extended for the duration of the event. We will take reasonable steps to notify you, to limit the effect on the student, and to resume normal delivery as soon as we reasonably can. Where scheduled lessons or sessions are affected, we will offer a makeup session or a credit against future fees on the same basis as section 6.2. A force majeure event does not, by itself, suspend your obligation to pay fees for the course where access and content remain available.
10.3 Prolonged events. If a force majeure event prevents or substantially delays delivery of the affected course for a continuous period of more than 30 days, either you or we may end the affected enrolment by written notice (which, for this purpose, includes email or WhatsApp). Where the enrolment is ended under this section, we will refund the fees you have paid for the part of the course that has not yet been provided. This does not affect, and takes second place to, your non-excludable statutory rights and your cancellation rights under sections 1.2 and 2.1, which continue to apply.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law or in our services. For material changes affecting an active enrolment, we will give you reasonable advance notice. Where a change is to your significant disadvantage, you may cancel and receive a refund of fees for the part of the course not yet provided.
